La Jolla Living

La Jolla Beach Park

La Jolla is just 14 miles north of San Diego’s downtown, and encompasses 20 square miles of beach front and near-beach property. Residents and visitors come to La Jolla for the beach, but also enjoy high-end dining (try George’s on the Cove for great views!), shopping and art galleries.

With 300 days of sunshine each year and an average temperature of 74 degrees, La Jolla is popular with visitors and second home buyers - Arizonan’s in the summer, and snow country escapees in the winter. Residents live in a wide variety of La Jolla real estate options, from condominiums and cottages to large homes. Condos and town homes in La Jolla start at the $300’s for a small condo in a community such as La Jolla Terrace, to over $2 million for an ocean view villa at Emerald Cove. Much of La Jolla is built on hillsides, offering some beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.

As in any beach front community, parking is difficult to find (or expensive) near the beach. However, La Jolla has a more “spread-out” feel than some of its neighboring beach front communities.
